Event Regestration

With the exception of the Junior Olympic meets, athletes must be registered on the Tuesday before each Saturday meet. Junior Olympic registration is required 2 weeks in advance. Entries will be taken at practice each Tuesday evening. In addition, an email requesting registration will be sent out prior to each meet. This information must be received by 7pm on the Tuesday before each meet (2 weeks before for State Junior Olympics) or the athlete will not be registered by the Club.

Athletes are allowed to compete in 3-4 events depending on their age group and the coaches’ discretion. We will attempt to let you know an approximate time (morning or afternoon) for events. Due to the variance in meet administration, it is very difficult to determine exact times for events; therefore, it is better to be too early than to miss events. Athletes should arrive at the meet 1 hour before their scheduled event in order to properly warm-up and check in.

We will make every effort to put together competitive relays for each meet. Relays at regular season meets are open to all athletes; however, we will take the top 4 athletes in a respective event to form our relays for the State, Regional and National Jr. Olympic Meets.

Late Entries

If an athlete wants to participate in a meet but inadvertently missed the team entry deadline, he/she must be registered by parents on the day of the meet, before the meet starts. There will be a late fee charged by the meet host

Team Tents

The Omaha Racers will have large white and blue tents at the meets. These tents are for athletes’ shelter. Parents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, coolers, snacks, sunscreen and otherpicnic-type items to the meets. It is a picnic atmosphere and there is often a lot of down time. Many meets have concessions available but the food is often not the most nutritious for competing athletes.

Meet Gate Fee

There will be a gate/entry charge for family members at each meet. This fee ranges from $2-$5/person. Children under 5 are typically free.

Athletes are required to have their USATF card at each meet. All new members must submit a birth certificate copy to Leigh along with registration form in order to process USATF card.

Regional and National Qualification

Athletes qualifying to USATF Regional and/or National Junior Olympic Meets are responsible for their own travel expenses and meet registration fees.

USATF Regional Junior Olympics Championship Meet

July 9-12 @ Iowa State University, Ames, IA.

USATF National Junior Olympics Championship Meet

July 27-Aug 2 @ Jacksonville, FL.

Practice Times

Please see 2017 Racers Track packet on the documents page for practice and meet schedules. 2017 will be a bit different than past years.

All cross country practices are held at Walnut Grove Park at 150th and Q Streets. Practice days will be Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and are held from 5:45 to 6:30/6:45pm. We will move the time up as the days get shorter. Please bring a water bottle and appropriate clothing and shoes to practice. Practice will take place if there is light or moderate rain. There will not be practice if the weather is severe. Parents should use their own judgment or check email for a cancellation announcement.
